Be Happy Live Long

Happy Happiness is a mental state of well being characterized by positive and pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. Happiness is the feeling we experience when we realize that everything is exactly as it should be according to us. Some describe it as the state of pleasure that one experiences after reaching our goals. Some people say that, happiness is a feeling of peace of mind. It is a perspective dependent emotion which means that what could make someone happy may not be of any importance to someone else. One may become happy if he became rich but for someone else money won’t make him feel happy. We usually become happy when we get something that satisfies us. Martin Seligman, one of the leading researchers in positive psychology and author of Authentic Happiness, describes happiness as having three parts: pleasure, engagement, and meaning. Pleasure is the “feel good” part of happiness. Engagement refers to living a “good life” of work, family, friends, and hobbies. Meaning refers to using our strengths to contribute to a larger purpose. Seligman says that all three are important, but that of the three, engagement and meaning make the most difference to living a happy life.

HAPPINESS QUOTES:

“Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder” — Henry David Thoreau

“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared”.

Buddha

“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions”.–Dalai Lama

“It is neither wealth nor splendor; but tranquility and occupation which give you happiness”.–Thomas Jefferson

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony”.–Mahatma Gandhi

“Happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected”–George Washington

“Truth is a deep kindness that teaches us to be content in our everyday life and share with the people the same happiness”.–Khalil Jibran

“Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life”.–Omar Khayyam

“Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn’t know you left open”.–John Barrymore

“Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.”–Mother Teresa

“The man who makes everything that leads to happiness depends upon himself, and not upon other men, has adopted the very best plan for living happily. This is the man of moderation, the man of manly character and of wisdom.:”–Plato

HOW TO BECOME HAPPY?

“The first recipe for happiness is: avoid too lengthy meditation on the past”.

Andre Maurois

Unfortunately, it is not so easy, however following techniques can be used to find happiness and satisfaction:

1. Keep life easy:

Easy life means to perform one task in one moment and other in another moment. A simple yes or no answer is better than making lame excuses and justifications. Don’t try and clutter your life with unnecessary decisions by making everything complicated and complex. Keep it simple!

2. Be satisfied:

How much have you been contented upon your achievements? Is a simple question to evaluate your state of satisfaction? Your response toward ‘have or have not’ determine whether you are satisfied or not.

3 Avoid Uncertainty:

While starting a job there may be too many options to chose, the ways to perform it and the planning to complete it. To meet the goal successfully, it is very important to select the known options, adopt the well familiar ways to perform it. Always make clear planning map to avoid the uncertainty.

4. Practice Jollity:

It only takes a few muscles to smile! Then why not you smile? Smiles on our face have more powerful effects upon others than our most sagacious words. We live in a society where it seems that glumness is the rule of order. A smiling face would be a peculiar and more interacting than other which is not.

5. Learn to like people.

We don’t have to love everyone we encounter, so we should learn to like people, especially those who are different from our self. Mostly we won’t agree with everything they do, or may be all of their beliefs, but by learning to get along with them we should open our mind to change – this is the best way to adapt and survive within the society.

6. Live and let live. Freedom is the instinct of man and to try to control this instinct is disliked within the society which in turn produces unhappiness. We should learn to live our life to the fullest and let others live their life to the fullest. None of us is above anyone else, and none of us should think we should be allowed to dictate how another person should live their life.

7. Hardship teaches.

Adversity can be one of the most effective teachers we will ever have in our lives. You will learn so much about life by overcoming adversity and learning how to face it. Adversity often comes in many different outfits, but we should change our life by learning how to deal with it and prosper from it.

8. Don’t be so serious:

The secret of happy life is that one should not be serious every time. It’s OK to be a little goofy now and then. We should have some fun and show our children and those around us that we know how to have fun.

9. Develop some sense of humor:

Laugh, joke, and laughter are the powerful expressions to become and make others happy. Laughter has been shown to help people live longer, reduce their blood pressure and help them relate to people from around the world. This all together induces happiness.

10. Be Neutral:

One should be objective in decision-making and risk-taking. We should know the facts and avoid letting racial, social, or any other type of bias to influence our decisions. Great leaders perform their best when they act based on facts, not on emotion or prejudices.

11. Accept the mistakes:

Everybody make mistakes. Learn that mistakes happen and the best thing we can do is to learn from them. Don’t spend entire life dwelling on a mistake you made years ago – learn from it and move on.

12.Forgive and Forget

Stop beating you up over things that happened in the past and the things you did or didn’t do and mistakes you made with others. Forgiving yourself is a skill and few of us have the ability to accomplish. It is such a shame that we spent a lifetime living in the past and never make it to our full potential in the future. Forgive yourself just as you forgive others.

The Happiness circle explains how one can get happiness. Everyone has to do some work for his livelihood. Some people get reasonable earnings for their work while others could not. Those who are not satisfied by their income (reward) become frustrated and are not happy with their lives.

Other people who work hard and get reasonable income but do not have sufficient “facilities” neither at their work place or at home, such people feel uncomfortable and live unhappy life.

Third category of people are those whose income is sufficient, have better facilities at home and at work place but they lack sense of “aestheticism”. These people do not know how to spend their money in proper way. Such people do not feel charm and attraction in their lives and live an unhappy life.

“spirituality” is the quality of one’s sensitivity to the things that are not of material and corporal nature. Eating, drinking, physical comfort and sex are functions of the body, whereas love, fairness, compassion and kindness are faculties of the spirit. These are qualities that cannot be directly perceived by our senses but can be felt and whose effects can be deduced by our observations. God is Spirit, so we must worship him in spirit and in truth to satisfy our inner self. Stress, worries, anger and negativity will fade away and will be replaced by a feeling of inner peace and happiness. And ultimately, Happiness, the soul destination is produced, through the steps in a circular fashion and again creates the better motivation for more work.
